Aquest anàlisi de Neocaos (2023), el nou còmic creat per Pere Joan, el contextualitza dins la seva obra i destaca les publicacions anteriors que el van fer una veu única en el mitjà. És particularment important el seu interès pels temes de geografia i espai, que conviden considerar-los des de la perspectiva d’una teoria urbana forjada per Henri Lefebvre, Jane Jacobs, i Manuel Delgado Ruiz, entre d’altres. De fet, el còmic mateix s’ofereix com una sèrie d’intervencions urbanístiques, totes les quals donen prioritat a l’ésser humà per sobre de la ferma ideologia de la planificació contemporània. Entre las propostes s’observen la compaginació perfecta dels interessos del creador. En Pere Joan vol barrejar aquests conceptes atrevits amb la seva estètica lúdica i fascinant, donant com a resultat un text provocador que il·lustra els fracassos del urbanisme ferotge alhora que recupera el potencial de la imaginació per crear noves formes de vida urbana.

Abstract

This analysis contextualizes Neocaos (2023), the new comic created by Pere Joan, within his work and highlights the previous publications that made him a unique voice in the medium. Particularly important is his interest in geographical and spatial themes, which invite consideration from the perspective of an urban theory forged by Henri Lefebvre, Jane Jacobs, and Manuel Delgado Ruiz, among others. In fact, the comic itself presents as a series of urbanistic interventions, all of which prioritize the human being over the staid ideology of contemporary planning. In these proposals one observes the perfect combination of the artist’s interests. Pere Joan blends these bold concepts together with his playful and fascinating aesthetic, resulting in a provocative text that illustrates the failures of urban design at the same time that it recovers the potential of the imagination for creating new ways of urban living.
